The Arizona Rock Products Association awarded Larry Mata with Arizona Metro Mix as the Truck Driver of the 3rd Quarter on Thursday, October 20, 2011. The Arizona Rock Products Truck Driver of the Quarter Award acknowledges the significant contribution of truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the rock products industry. Larry Mata brings 30 years experience as a truck driver to the job every day accompianied by enthusianm, safe practices and professionalism. He has been recognized with the Driver Gold Award , Metro Mix Driver of the Quarter -2011 Award and the Driver Safety Award in 2010. Congratulations to Larry Mata for a job well done!

The Arizona Rock Products Truck Driver of the Quarter Award acknowledges the significant contribution of truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the rock products industry. Hanson Heidelberg’s, Bart Ashley was awarded on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 as the 3rd Quarter winner for ready mix. This is a distinguished honor to members of the aggregate, concrete, cement and asphalt delivery industry and recognizes the driver’s career achievement, safety performance, professionalism, competence and customer service skills. Bart Ashley has an outstanding safety record, working for Hanson for the past 11 years. He is the driver trainer for all new drivers and also re-certifies re-hired drivers for the company. He also conducts the Smith System Training program and is a back up
batchman. Bart is a team leader and has excellent people skills not only with his fellow co-workers but with customers who actually request him on their jobs. Congratulations Bart Ashley, ARPA’s 3rd quarter Ready Mix Driver of the Quarter winner!

Vulcan Receives National Recognition for Wildlife Habitat
(California) — Vulcan Materials Company, Western Division announced today that the wildlife habitat at its Sacramento Aggregate Plant in Sacramento, California, has received official recertification from the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC).
Vulcan’s Sacramento Aggregate Plant is one of 41 Vulcan sites with WHC-certified wildlife habitats. Certification requirements are stringent and sites must be recertified every two years.

ARPA Driver of the Quarter: 2nd Quarter Ready Mix Winner
The Arizona Rock Products Truck Driver of the Quarter Award acknowledges the significant contribution of truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the rock products industry. Rick Jeffries with Hanson Aggregates was awarded on Monday, August 16, 2010 as the 2nd Quarter winner for ready mix. This is a distinguished honor to members of the aggregate, concrete, cement and asphalt delivery industry and recognizes the driver’s career achievement, safety performance, professionalism, competence and customer service skills. Rick Jeffries holds a perfect safety record, working for Hanson for the past 11 years. He has conducted the Smith System Training program for all employees for the past 4 years, which is a required class for drivers of all company vehicles. Rick is a leader for his company and heads all safety meetings in their west valley plants. Congratulations Rick Jeffries, ARPA’s 2nd quarter Ready Mix Driver of the Quarter winner!

ARPA Announces Winners of Community Excellence Program
The ARPA Community Relations Award Program began in 2005 to recognize aggregate producers whose community involvement and support activities have
enhanced the public’s perception and support of the aggregates industry. On June 25, 2010, at the ARPA Convention, the winners were presented with their awards. Third place went to CalPortlandfor their Coolidge Facility, second place went to FNF Construction and the winner of this years Community Excellence Award Program went to Lafarge NA, Sun City Aggregates facility. Congratulations to all three companies for their community relations efforts and going above and beyond as good neighbors and responsible corporate citizens.

Sentinel of Safety Award Winner
Gila River Sand and Gravelwon the Sentinel of Safety award andthe Rock Mountain District Safe Mine Achievement Award in 2009. This is awarded for best record for all sand andgravel operations in 9 states. To celebrate this outstanding achievement, Gila River Sand and Gravel’s Maricopa Plant had a cook out on Wednesday, November 25, 2009.

First Concrete Habitat for Humanity® Home
Salt River Materials Group (SRMG) broke ground on a concrete home for Habitat for Humanity in August 2009. Partnering with Phoenix-area contractors and suppliers to demonstrate “green” building technologies in the first concrete Habitat for Humanity® home in Arizona. The home is constructed with above-grade concrete walls, conditioned attic space that includes spray foam in the roof deck, and energy-efficient windows and HVAC equipment. These elements combine to allow the home to reach the coveted “Net Zero” energy designation. The project’s additional “green” products
will contribute to an overall LEED® for Homes Platinum designation. Among 200 entries, the Habitat home was selected to be in the “Contemporary Desert Living Tour” sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council and will be featured at the Greenbuild® International Conference and Expo in November in Phoenix.
